Episode 204: How To Deal With Emotional Eating And Heal Our Hormones And Relationship With Food, with Amber Romaniuk

Our relationship with food is so complex and important for both our physical and mental health. I’ve spent a lot of my adult life trying to deprogram diet culture and deal with guilt around certain foods, reprogramming the morality we place on how we eat. And I've spent the last few years trying to figure out how to use food to make me feel physically good... how can I nourish myself, how can I optimize myself with what I consume, and how food impacts my hormone imbalances.

Episode 97: How To Have A Healthy(ish) Relationship With Alcohol And Drink Mindfully

If you’ve scrolled through TikTok this past month you’ve probably seen a lot of people finishing their “Dry January” or rethinking their relationship with alcohol in 2023. (Even Miley says she’s 4 months sober, and we’re ready for our #Flowers era!) There’s been a major shift towards the sober-curious as we become more health-conscious, productivity-driven, and aware of our mental health. So this week, we’re taking a deep, hard (and hella vulnerable) look at our relationship with alcohol, and bringing you along for the ride as we reevaluate how to move forward with booze. We’re not here to convince you to quit drinking — we love ourselves a boozy night out as much as the next queen, and this podcast was born from (more than) a few glasses of rosé! But while we aspire to age like a fine wine, our former drinking habits have not aged well, and getting drunk definitely isn’t serving us in our 30s.

This is a choose your own adventure, because we’re leaving labels — along with getting blackout — behind in 2022. Whether you’ve been sober-curious, or you just want to live a more balanced life, you don’t need to label yourself as a drinker or non-drinker: it's just about exploring your relationship with alcohol mindfully, getting self-aware and honest with yourself, and setting boundaries around drinking when you need to in any situation.

If you’re curious about what a more mindful relationship with alcohol looks like, grab a glass of your favourite bevy and tune in as we chat about:

  • Why drinking is so embedded in our culture

  • The mental and physical impacts of booze

  • Cailyn’s journey to a more sober-curious life

  • Gill’s journey to drinking more mindfully and intentionally

  • Understanding the “why” behind your drinking habits

  • Uncovering your drinking triggers

  • Figuring out what type of booze works best for you (Byeee tequila shots!)

  • Setting clear boundaries with yourself and others

  • Dealing with the social pressure to drink

  • Our favourite alcohol-free activities (that are still maximum fun)

  • Science-backed tips for dealing with hangovers

We hope this episode helps you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationship with alcohol, no matter what journey you’re on! DM us and let us know how you’re feeling about drinking these days, and what’s been working for you.
